House Bill – 170: LEGISLATION TO SHORTEN STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN OHIO

The statute for limitations for breach-of-written-contract claims may soon be reduced from 15 to six years in Ohio.

On Thursday, June 23, 2001 the Ohio House of Representatives overwhelming approved House Bill 170 (91% -  8 %). Many in the construction industry endorse the bill and have complained about the long-term risk and burden associated with the 15-year statute of limitations.  Stay tuned to see if HB 170 eventually becomes new law in Ohio, perhaps this winter.
